Hurricane Relief for NY Balloon and Basket
Dear Balloon Planet Partners,
Many of you have contacted us asking how you can help our partners affected by Hurricane Sandy. It appears that all of our partners survived this storm with no physical damage, with one big exception. Our Brooklyn partner, NY Balloon & Basket (aka TFL Party Planners), owned by Jane Parmel and Rae Russo, was decimated by the storm. Their shop, located adjacent to Coney Island, and just three blocks from the Atlantic Ocean, flooded, with the loss of two vans and a store full of merchandise and equipment. Flood insurance was not available because of their proximity to the Atlantic. In response to your calls, I invite you to join us in an effort to get Jane and Rae back on their feet.
Your contribution can be made quickly and securely by using the Balloon Planet Supplies page. Simply submit your donation the same way you order supplies (S&H charges DO NOT apply). If you have never used this feature, look for the link titled ORDER BP SUPPLIES, which is within the INVENTORY tab at the top of your account page. If you prefer, you may send me an email message and state how much you would like to contribute.
Your contributions will be deducted from your future BP checks in monthly installments which will not exceed $50 in any single month. The funds collected will be transferred to a relief account established for Jane and Rae at Rainbow Balloons, our preferred east coast distributor. This will allow Jane and Rae to purchase inventory and equipment as they need it. Every dollar contributed will transfer to that account, with no administration fees deducted. Please check with your accountant regarding tax deduction eligibility. We will provide each contributor with a detailed receipt.
For transparency and encouragement, contributions to the account will be posted daily, directly below.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness and generosity.
Jim Parker
